FEATURES OF OCEAN IMPORTS EUROPEAN BEECH
PLATFORM BEDS AND BUNKS
European Beechwood. Beech is a strong, durable hardwood that will stand
the test of time. - stronger
than Red Oak, White Oak and Silver Maple in 6 of 7 tested properties.
Reforested Lumber – Ocean Imports uses reforested beech in it
European Beech Collection. Forests have been selectively harvested and replanted as a
renewable resource for hundreds of years. Go Green!
Construction –
For extra strength and durability Ocean Imports European Beech
headboards utilize mortis and tenon joints which are both glued and pinned. The large
gluing surface area forms a joint 4 times stronger than dowel joints.
Mattresses are solidly supported with spruce slat rolls screwed into
deck supports. For maximum strength all beechwood deck supports are set in a channel then
both glued and screwed into place. Twin and bunk beds use a single slat roll. Full and
queen platform beds utilize a double slat system.
Ocean Imports Bunk Beds exceed all requirements of the U.S. Consumer
Product Safety Commission’s "Safety Standards for Bunkbeds".
Guardrails – Guardrails are 13" high for added
security. Steel pins reinforce the guardrail uprights. Guardrail designs match headboard
motif of each bunk. 60" Guard rail on one side to accommodate ladder.
Ladder - Angled ladder rests on floor for safe access to upper
bed. Treads glued and screwed into channels in ladder side. Vinyl sleeves on ladder hooks
protect rails.
Finish – A six step polyurethane finish gives our Beech Collection a
rich, durable long lasting finish. All pieces can be cleaned with a soft damp cloth; no
polishing or waxing is needed.
